Join Helm Studios and PLEASEBENiCE live via Twitch on September 10th at 7pm PT for the release of the sun loves me. Tickets for this event are by donation ($10 being the recommended amount) and all proceeds will go directly to those at the front lines defending Indigenous lands from the proposed Line 3 pipeline.
The Line 3 pipeline is being built by Enbridge, a multinational pipeline company based in Calgary, Alberta. The building of this new pipeline will open up a new part of the land to the possibility of an oil spill which can threaten lakes, rivers, and wild rice waters. The pipeline will run southeast from Canada’s tar sands region to Lake Superior’s western tip near the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. The nation’s biggest inland oil spill happened in 1991 on the current Line 3 near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The current line has leaked crude other times, too. Additionally, by building the Line 3 pipeline we will be encouraging the use of fossil fuels and hindering the fight against the climate crisis.
Born in Treaty Six Territory (Edmonton, AB) and currently living in Treaty Seven Territory (Calgary, AB), PLEASEBENiCE is a trans-female experimental hip-hop artist. She incorporates hyper pop with industrial hip hop to make a truly unique and original sound. If you are new to this artist, you should check out her latest single “if i ain’t on it” released earlier this year.
